Uluwehi Jar
This large, hand-built jar is a living story of the tropics — adorned with raised carvings of a native bird in flight, rolling island clouds, a hanging banana rack, and broad banana tree leaves. Every element is shaped in rich relief and natural tones, echoing the textures and abundance of a working Kaua‘i garden.
Its generous size and grounded presence make it an ideal centerpiece for a Kaua‘i home — whether placed on a table, in an entryway, or anchoring a lanai with fruit, branches, or simply its own sculptural beauty.
Crafted slowly by hand, this piece is both vessel and story — a tribute to island life, where sky, bird, and tree live in harmony.
What is Stoneware?
Stoneware pottery is fired at high temperatures to make it strong, hard, and resistant to liquids (non-porous). It is made from clay, but it is more durable than other kinds of pottery and earthenware. The reason it is called "stoneware" is because of its stone-like qualities, so you can expect something that is rugged, durable, and exudes natural feeling.
Care instructions
While stoneware and the glaze I use is 100% food-safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher friendly, to retain the beautiful colors, I do recommend hand washing and not using them in microwaves. Although stoneware is tough, it could still chip if it is bashed so please handle your pots with care.
