Dinnerware Course | 5 Weeks

Join us for a 5 week course that will introduce you to the basics of wheel throwing from start to finish, while also giving you a dinnerware set that you made with your own two hands. 

Every class will be 2 hours long, any time between 11AM to 3PM, every Friday, Saturday, OR Sunday. With the exception of November 23 due to craft fair market commitments. 

The classes will be located on our serene tropical homestead in Wailua, Kaua'i. We are located about a 7 min drive uphill from the ABC Store in Kapaa. The exact details will be emailed or texted to you after booking.

This small, intimate class, is limited to just 3 people and is perfect for beginners who want to experience the magic of shaping clay on the wheel while immersing themselves in a beautiful, natural setting. 

During this course, you will be creating your own appetizer sized dinnerware from start to finish: 2 plates, 2 bowls, and 2 cups. 

You'll learn how to create pottery from start to finish: you will be throwing the pots on the wheel, trimming them, and glazing them. We will handle the firing for you. 

** Because the nature of this course, we will have an age limit of at least 12 years old to register. 

ROUGH SCHEDULE

The goal is to come out of the class with a set of 2 of plates, bowls, and cups, so we will be throwing extras just in case. 

Week 1: Intro to wedging, centering, and 3-4 plates 

Week 2: Trimming plates, 3-4 bowls

Week 3: Trimming bowls, 3-4 cups

Week 4: Trimming cups, intro to bisque firing, glazing & choosing colors

Week 5:  BREAK for drying pieces & bisque fire 

Week 6: Glazing

CANCELLATION POLICY

Because this class requires prior planning and is only limited to 3 people, cancellations can only be made up to 5 days before class time, so that we can have the opportunity to fill the space in the event of your cancellation. If you cancel within 5 days before class starts or don’t show up, your payment will be forfeited and we won’t be able to offer a refund.
